Golf
Southern Arizona is a golfer’s paradise with perfect weather year-around and challenging courses with spectacular views.
Tubac Golf Resort
The Tubac Golf Resort was made famous by Kevin Costner’s 1996 movie “Tin Cup,” where many of the scenes were filmed. Designed in 1959 by renowned golf course architect Robert ‘Red’ Lawrence, the original 18-hole course was widely considered to be the ‘Jewel of Southern Arizona Golf Courses.’ Red was a founding member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects and designed a variety of excellent courses across the country.
Kino Springs, Nogales
A great escape, Kino Springs is a 6500 yard Par 71 course designed by Red Lawrence. The Kino Springs course begins in gentle meadowlands then, starting at Hole #5, winds its way through spectacular canyon country. Bordered by mature pine trees, the last five holes offer great views of the Santa Cruz River, open river country, and equestrian pastures. Wildlife sightings are a common occurrence during your round.
Palo Duro Creek Golf Course, Nogales
Enjoy the historic charm of the Simmons’ Ranch as well as the beauty and challenge of one of the best golf course layouts in Southern Arizona. The course is set in the foothills of the Portrero Canyon, with views of the Santa Rita and San Cayatano Mountains.
The natural wetlands at Palo Duro Creek provide a focus for the Lakes Course. They also provide habitat for many rare species of birds. Bring your binoculars if you’re so inclined!
Rio Rico Resort & Country Club
One of Arizona`s best kept secrets is our Robert Trent Jones championship golf course – one of the top three rated golf courses in Arizona and located 15 minutes south of Tubac in one of the most picturesque and historically fascinating areas of Arizona. Rio Rico is the former home to the PGA`s Qualifying School and is therefore deemed to the highest standards of the PGA.
As one of Arizona`s top courses, and one of the best in the U.S., every round at Rio Rico is memorable. From the amazing views of the pristine mountains of the Sonora Desert to the lush, meticulous fairways and greens you`ll find Rio Rico a golf experience to remember.
